Agahozo Shalom Youth Village Academic Director Job Vacancy in Rwanda

Job Title: Academic
Director

Reports to: Village Director

Position Type: Full time

Location: Rwamagana, Rwanda
Organization Description
The Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village
(ASYV) is a residential community in rural Rwanda. It is a home to youth who
were orphaned during and after the genocide in 1994. The Village, which opened its doors to its first class of students in
December 2008, is a place of hope, where traumatized youth can “dry their
tears” (Agahozo) and “live in peace” (Shalom).
The Village is designed to care
for, protect and nurture these

young people. The youth of Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village come
from all 30 districts in Rwanda. We aim to
select four representatives from each of these districts
every year. We invest in Rwanda’s most vulnerable orphans with the confidence
that they are capable of great accomplishments. We focus on developing
students both cognitively and socially. We follow the Rwandan curriculum, but
teach in a mediated learner-centered way that deepens a student’s level of
understanding.
