Action Research Manager
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private, non-denominational, development agency promoting creative solutions to problems that impede social development. AKF (East Africa) has initiated a multi-input area development program— the Coastal Rural Support Program,
Tanzania (CRSP, T) — in southern Tanzania. The Program’s overall goal is to improve the livelihoods of rural communities in Mtwara and Lindi Regions through sustainable socio-economic interventions in food security, income generation, health, and education
The Foundation invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the position of Action Research Manager based in Mtwara Region.

Reporting to Program Director and working closely with the relevant sector specialists, the Action Research Manager shall be responsible specifically for the planning and coordinating of action research implementation; formulation of action research topics together with CRSP(T) partners, including issuing calls for research proposals, defining criteria and indicators for proposal assessment; facilitating a virtual platform that guides research, particularly proposal screening, monitoring and evaluation of research quality and reporting; facilitation of cross-program learning as well as providing timely, professional advice to program management while ensuring adequate documentation, communication and dissemination of important research results to a wider audience.

Qualifications:
• Minimum 5 (five) years relevant working experience in the field of social development management and/or research, with international and/or regional NGOs, donor agencies, relevant government agencies and/or private sector actors;
• Post graduate university degree in social sciences, environmental sciences, agro-ecological studies, development studies or other relevant fields;
• Relevant management skills to effectively oversee timely completion of research projects particularly those in rural areas working closely with local stakeholders;
• Direct experience in overseeing and/or conducting rural household studies;
• Strong communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken English;
• Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams to accomplish program goals.

The successful candidate will be based in CRSP(T)’s office in Mtwara, southern Tanzania.
