The African
Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS, www.nexteinstein.org)
is a pan-African network of centres of excellence for postgraduate training,
research and outreach in mathematical sciences. Its mission is to enable
Africa’s brightest students to flourish as independent thinkers, problem
solvers and innovators capable of propelling Africa’s future scientific,
educatio
nal and economic self-sufficiency. The first AIMS centre opened in Cape
Town, South Africa in 2003; since 2011, AIMS has opened additional centres in
Senegal, Ghana, Cameroon, Tanzania and Rwanda. The goal of the AIMS Next
Einstein Initiative (AIMS-NEI) is to build a pan-African network of 15 centres
of excellence across the continent by 2023.
Each AIMS centre
provides an intensive and broad education to over 50 African students each year
and prepares them for leadership careers in academia, governance and industry.
The AIMS educational program relies on top international lecturers who teach in
a 24-hour learning environment.

Project
Coordinator – Quantum Leap Africa (QLA)
The Quantum Leap
Africa (QLA) project is an integral component of the AIMS in Rwanda EcoSystem
launched in Kigali April 3rd! QLA is a world-class centre of scientific
research excellence at the leading edge of information science and technology
with a mandate to position Rwanda as a global information leader!
In support of the
QLA project, we are in search of a smart, enthusiastic individual to join the
team as its first Project Coordinator. Inspired by an ambitious mandate, and
led by the Project Developer, you will be responsible to initiate, administer
and organize all project related activities, with the goal of achieving a
flawless implementation of the Quantum Leap Africa project.
As an aspiring
administrative professional, you will be at ease to work in start-up mode – to
identify, develop and implement the necessary administrative systems and
processes to effectively and efficiently support day-to-day operations of QLA.
In this start-up role, you will interact and collaborate with a diverse team of
administrative, program and financial professionals across our global Network.
Additionally, you have the aptitude to confidently contribute to the
preparation of grant documents and grant applications; you bring strong English
language skills to accurately write donor reports and to implement aspects of
the communications and public engagement plan, and, you enjoy and capably
manage multiple priorities with competing demands.
This is a full time,
opportunity based at the QLA Centre of Excellence in Kigali, Rwanda.
Do you have
what we need?
· Minimum Bachelor’s
degree in a related field
· Minimum of 2
years’ experience coordinating and delivery projects
· Strong English
language skills; French a desired asset
· Excellent written
and verbal communication skills
· Excellent
stakeholder-facing and internal communication skills
· Solid
organizational skills; ability to multi-task, with attention to detail
· Highly Proficient
in a Windows environment using MS Office and select internet applications
(Google Docs, Dropbox, Skype), in addition to project management tools
· Experience in
non-profit environnent, an asset
· Exposure to social
media, an asset
· Flexible,
intellectually curious and creative
