This is a single status, FIFO position with the roster being 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Install and maintain all winders and shaft equipment to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimize availability.
• Overhaul winders and shaft equipment in accordance with set company policies and procedures.
• Complete required testing and safety checks on winders and shaft equipment.
• Attend to breakdowns and complete necessary faultfinding.
• Carry out defined and necessary checks on winders and shaft equipment.
• Ensure total adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures and guidelines as well as all other company policies and procedures.
• Complete modifications to winders and shaft equipment in accordance with specified instructions.
• Under the direction of the supervisor, provide appropriate on-the-job training and coaching to less experienced personnel.
• Implementation and execution of all tasks and instructions as instructed by superiors.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• FTC Certificate OR Trade Certificate in Electrical Engineering from a recognized training institution.
• High voltage certificate from a recognised training institution.
Experience Requirements:
• Thorough knowledge of main consumer substations, winder operation and reticulation drawings, generator switching, shaft operation and reticulation drawings, high and low voltage installations and reticulation diagrams.
• Exposure to challenges of operating in remote mine sites and in particular in developing countries.
• Sound experience as a Winder/ Hoist Electrician.
• Must be computer literate and must have thorough knowledge of PLC control systems and diagrams.
• Solid experience of deep level trackless and conventional mining operations.
• Excellent interpersonal and electrical skills with the ability to assist the supervisor to lead and motivate a well established electrical team.
• A strong personal commitment to implement electrical policies and procedures, with the ability to foster a strong safety culture among electrical personnel.
• Ability to mentor and work with people from a wide range of nationalities and cultures and the willingness to share skills and knowledge with others as part of a development program towards all nationals.
