African

The African is not left out in the development
of writing. Africa is not only unique in customs, tradition, and culture, but
also in its means of communication. All the means of communication
originated from the earliest Africans in the old Egypt. The civilization later
spread to China, India, Greece and Rome.
The uniqueness of the African means of
communication is embedded in their originality, creativity, tradition and
culture of the people. For example; the Vai and the Mande Syllabaries script.
The oldest of these is Vai, which was invented around 1832 by Momolu Duwalu
Bukele of Liberia. These syllabaries, each character stands for a consonant and
vowel sound were used primarily for keeping records, exchanging correspondence
and translating the Qur’an and the Bible.
