Position: Residential Camp Cook(s)

Location: Camp Mockingee, half way between Windsor and Chester, Nova Scotia
Halifax Regional Municipality’s Adventure Earth Centre delivers
various environmental/earth education programs to children, youth and
families, including residential camps.
We are currently looking for experienced cooks for our residential
camps for the Summer of 2014.
This would be a contract, wage position with Halifax Regional
Municipality, specifically
with the Adventure Earth Centre. There
would be no benefits, but there would be 4% vacation pay.
The commitment would be between June 30 and August 8, 2014.
Pay rate would be $14.00/hr each, with a total amount of 280 hours
paid at 40 hr/wk over 7 weeks, starting on June 30.
Food Safety Training is required.
Duties would cover such things as:
• Initial set up of kitchen/food
• Food prep/cooking for each day of staff training and/or camp,
including 3 meals and 3 snacks per day.
• Allergies, dietary requirements or restrictions need to be accommodated.
• Clean up/Dishes for kitchen use only. (Staff and campers do their
own, and also help in the kitchen when they can)
• Maintaining grocery/food supply either through placing and receiving
orders (ie milk/dairy is delivered) or making trips to Windsor for
groceries/supplies. (Mileage is extra)
Location is at Camp Mockingee, in Vaughan. (Belongs to Rotary Club of
Windsor). Located half way between Windsor and Chester on the #14
highway.
A room in the staff side of a large cabin would be provided for each
of you. (Bunk beds, but decent mattresses)
