Job Summary
The Director of Accounting will serve as a key management employee in Acacia
Accounting’s practice, lo
cated in Kigali,
Rwanda. The Manager will partner with fellow Directors of Acacia Accounting,
and current staff to provide outsourced
accounting, compliance, and financial services to for-profit and non-profit
enterprises owned by international and local
investors. Besides providing services, the incoming Manager will also assist
with the accounting training program offered
by Acacia Accounting.
Primary Responsibilities
I. Provide quality, professional, reliable, and timely services to clients,
including, but not limited to:
a. Bookkeeping and recordkeeping
b. Financial reporting
c. Outsourced controller function
d. Tax assistance and compliance
e. Payroll processing
f. Consulting and advisory
II. Be flexible by overseeing a number of different clients in multiple
industries across Rwanda, often with varying
complexity and deadlines
III. Manage the development of other team members through supervision, review,
goal setting, time management, and
ongoing training
IV. Build and maintain quality and professional relationships with clients
V. Teach and help manage the accounting training program, an experience-based
training program offered to recent
college graduates
VI. Promote the mission and vision of Acacia Accounting through services full
of integrity and compassion
Qualifications
I. Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, CA, CGA, etc.)
II. 2+ years accounting and finance experience, preferably 1+ years public
accounting experience
III. Experience in auditing and assurance preferred
IV. Fluent in written and spoken English (fluency in French a plus)
V. Knowledge/experience of and ability to train others in Microsoft Office
products (primarily Microsoft Excel and
Microsoft Word)
VI. Working knowledge of QuickBooks required; knowledge of other accounting GL
software systems preferred
VII. Ability and willingness to work cross culturally
VIII. Ability to laugh and have fun (as requested by Acacia’s local staff
accountants)
