Grade 7: £31,020 – £35,938 per annum
Applications are invited for a full-time appointment for a post-doctoral scientist to work on projects
supported by Welsh Government (WG), Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and commercial industry partners for a duration of 18 months. The work will require the post holder to be involved in key projects based within the agricultural systems team within the Animal and Microbial Sciences (AMS) theme in IBERS. The key projects include: ‘A producer-led initiative to increase the competitiveness of Welsh livestock production through optimal soil health’ (PROSOIL) and ‘Evaluating sustainable lamb production’ (SLP) but the post will involve work on other projects based on agricultural science research. The post will require the production of reports on these projects, practical scientific research (both field and laboratory based) and the successful applicant will be expected to communicate the results of the project to funders, stakeholders, at scientific conferences and to the agricultural industry. The Institute aims to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual whose laboratory and field skills are complemented by good communication and reporting skills.
The work will be primarily based at Gogerddan, but will require the post-holder to attend offsite open days, events and to attend meetings which may involve some travelling and overnight stays.
