About the Agency:
The Adelaide City Council and the South Australian Government share a vision for Adelaide as a revitalised and cosmopolitan city centre – the Capital City Committee is a key institution for identifying strategic requirements for the city’s future and advancing city-state relations.
The Committee is a unique inter-governmental partnership, established under the City of Adelaide Act 1998 to ensure the ongoing development of South Australia reflects its role as the State’s capital. The Committee unites some of the most senior leaders from the Adelaide City Council and the South Australian Government: chaired by the Premier, its members comprise the Lord Mayor, senior Cabinet Ministers and Councillors.
The Committee is funded jointly by the Adelaide City Council and the South Australian Government.
The Capital City Committee Directorate strives to provide exemplary executive and strategic support to the Capital City Committee to deliver its priorities for the city and ensure its legislative functions are fulfilled.
The Directorate is a small team, based in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (Cultural Development Division). A Steering Committee drawn from the executive leadership of Adelaide City Council and the Department of the Premier and Cabinet provides support and oversight of the Directorate’s workings.
Job details:
The Strategic Projects Manager is responsible for managing the strategic projects of the Capital City Committee and providing executive support to the Committee, to assist it in promoting the development of the city of Adelaide as the State’s capital.
The successful candidate will enjoy the opportunity to serve some of South Australia’s senior leaders – including the Premier and Lord Mayor – and springboard from their commitment to revitalise and energise the city of Adelaide.
This role provides the opportunity to work across the public and private sectors to deliver the Committee’s priorities for the city.
A demonstrated ability to manage a program of projects, provide exemplary executive support, develop good relationships with diverse interested parties, and ensure the Committee meets its legislative functions under the City of Adelaide Act 1998, will be required for this challenging role.
Desirable qualifications: A tertiary qualification in public policy, social sciences, urban planning, economics or appropriate discipline, or equivalent relevant experience. Qualifications in project or program management, or relevant experience in applying structured project management methods.
