Our client, a leading civil contractor renowned for their road works services, is looking for an experienced Safety Officer to join their infrastructure team in Townsville. As a recognised leader in their market, they offer stability, long term prospects, and an excellent support base. As an experienced Safety Officer role you will be responsible for maintaining the company’s safety requirements as well as promoting a positive safety culture. Duties include developing safety plans, policies and procedures; site inductions and safety training; safety audits, risk assessments, and gap analysis; and client and subcontractor liaison.
To be successful in this role you will have the following experience and qualifications:
• Qualifications in Occupation Health and Safety (Certificate IV minimum)
• Previous civil infrastructure experience
• Exposure to traffic management and roads works (surfacing, asphalt, and concrete)
• Solid understanding and working knowledge of AS4801 and auditing
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Ability to lead, mentor and initiate changes
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to all safety issues
