embodies a
multi-disciplinary approach to teaching, research and community
engagement with a focus on the earliest years of life. A new expansive
state-of-the-art building at the Wollongong campus, scheduled for operation in
early 2015, incorporates advanced technologies in a purpose-built structure
with extensive formal and informal learning, teaching and research spaces.
Enhanced technologies also ensure connections with a network of early childhood
education and care services in regional, rural and remote communities of NSW.
The Facility also incorporates Australia’s first Children’s Discovery Centre,
to be named the ‘Early Start Discovery Space’ (ESDS), which will attract over
100,000 visits each year from young children and their families. The Chief
Operating Officer (COO), reporting to the Executive Dean of Social Sciences,
will be responsible for the overall operations of the Early Start Facility. The
COO will oversee management of the Facility, including responsibility for
developing and implementing operational policies and procedures, financial
operations, marketing, staffing, security, maintenance and day-to-day
operations and will participate in the broader planning, development and
implementation of the Early Start initiative.

initiative. With a high-level understanding of governance and management
practice across a range of areas and experience of managing a substantial
budget, you will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence

environment, with a results-focused and pro-active style.
