CSG Graphic Apparel Designer & Web Administrator Job Vacancy in Australia

Classic Sportswear, located in Camperdown, is a
leading Australian producer of Sportswear & Lifestyle apparel with an
enviable portfolio of sporting associations.
We are currently looking to expand our team with a
role that will be an integral part of our Creative Design Team but also involve
the administration of our Web site and the responsibility for Social Media.
We see the role as initially being 60% Web and Social
media with the balance in Apparel Design and the ratio reversing over the next
several months as our online presence is bought up to date.
This is an ideal role for a vibrant young designer
with an interest in learning and growing with the role.
You will be directly reporting to the Art Manager and
working alongside our sales and production teams.

The Design Team is primarily responsible for the creation and design of our
apparel products for  the retail market (eg NSW State of Origin or ACT
Brumbies ) which must be highly commercial but also designing for the teamwear
market (players/athletes) which must be conducive to the athletes needs. You
will be working across a range of collateral for these exciting brands; working
with many of our major sports  and  key retailers.

Key requirement of the role including:

  • Experience in graphic apparel design with
    apparel experience essential.
  • Experience and understanding of web design. Our
    experienced IT team manage the techical aspects so your role will focus on
    content and the creative direction. (This is not a role for a web
    designer.)
  • Proficient on the Mac platform in the current
    Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat & Indesign a big
    advantage)
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    applications
  • Understanding of Sportswear (teamwear v retail).
  • Creative flair, balanced with commercial maturity
  • Attention to detail; from brief to final product
  • The ability to set and work to production
    guidelines
  • Strong time management skills with ability to
    multi-task
  • Effective communication
  • A positive and friendly attitude to team work

Key Responsibilities of the role include:
 
  • Working in a team environment; directly reporting
    to the Art Manager
  • Being able to work independantly on Web
    administration and to drive interest through Social Media.
  • Working within the brief given but prepared to
    think outside the square in a commercial sense.
  • Designing seasonal range’s, per brand and client
    requirements
  • Developing and illustrating various graphic
    design material from garments, accessories, label & swing tags through
    to sales catalogues
  • A good undesrtanding of Textile design.
  • Create artwork and have a good knowledge in the
    process of garment construction, prints, embroideries, trims, logos etc

The successful applicant:

Will be able to demonstrate strong Graphic skills and their application to
apparel, and an interest in Sports/Lifestyle Brands; have an eye for design,
colour, trends and a strong sportswear sense. Sportswear Industry experience
will be highly regarded.

Key requirements that MUST be met:

  • You must have experience in apparel and can
    demonstrate the application of graphics to apparel.
  • You must have an understanding of web contect –
    but not necessarily the technical design of a web page. (This is not a
    role for a specialist web designer)
  • You will be an Australian or NZ citizen or have
    the appropriate visa to allow you full time employment within Australia.
    We are not interested in overseas applicants or sponsoring somebody.
  • You must be fluent in English.
