Wet fire protection systems/Special hazards/Project
Management and Design – sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, water spray systems
and gas flooding
The primary function is to design, specify, advise,
commission and audit special hazards and wet fire protection systems.
The position is as the special hazards and wet system
design engineer. As such attention to detail is essential. Project management
experience is also a must.
You will be involved in the design of;

Fire sprinkler systems for a variety of buildi

ng Classes and different
risks to Australian Standards and at least some exposure to NFPA and FM Global
requirements.

·        
Hydrant systems including pumps, tanks, hydraulic calculations, HDPE,
PVC and steel pipe.
·        
Exposure to deluge / water spray systems and gas flooding systems.
You would have an understanding of fire detection
and how it interfaces to the fire services above as well as a knowledge of fire
extinguishers and the agents used in them and how these suppress / extinguish
fire.
You must have strong face to face communications
skills and be able to convey information in a logical and professional manner.
Written skills must also be strong with a good
command of English, sentence structure, document layout and logical document
structure.
Requirements;
  • 5 years but preferably 10 years as an
    installer, estimator, designer, supervisor or commissioning contractor.
  • Alternatively 2-5 years with a contractor and
    5 or more years with a consultant.
  • Tertiary qualifications or related TAFE
    course, specialist fire systems experience is a must.
