About the Role

The Emergency Management Officer initiates and coordinates the development and
implementation of plans to efficiently manage emergency situations to minimise
the impact on NSW primary industries, the environment and the community.
This position will provide an emergency management role both inter and
intra-state. Key accountabilities include:
  • Developing
    relationships with internal and external stakeholders:
  • Coordinating
    the development and implementation of learning and development plans,
    documentation or other prevention and preparedness responsibilities: and
  • Supporting
    governance arrangements for emergency management.

About you

You will be a highly skilled communicator with the demonstrated ability to
plans, procedures, documents and correspondence within tight deadlines. You
will be committed to the provision of customer service and will have strong
interpersonal skills, enabling you to develop effective relationships and work
collaboratively with stakeholders.
The successful candidate will demonstrate superior computer and technology
skills, will have a current drivers licence, and will be required to travel
across NSW and interstate at times.

The Department of Primary Industries
works to develop and sustain diverse, profitable food and fibre industries, and
ensures best practice management of our natural resources. Our responsibilities
include developing profitable, sustainable and biosecure agriculture, and
fisheries; ensuring best management of catchments, natural resources and water;
and regulating the state’s food sector.
Within NSW DPI, the Biosecurity & Food Safety Division is responsible for
effective management and risk minimization of biosecurity threats to NSW as
well as the through-chain regulation of food safety. It delivers a risk based
approach to policy and compliance, and provides regional engagement and
coordination in response to emergency incidents and natural disasters impacting
primary industries and the food sector.

    agriculture or emergency management, and the key skills required.

    required.
