Our
Skills for Education & Employment (SEE) provides training to increase
skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and maths. It aims to open
doors to employment, study and community participation. It caters for a wide
range of backgrounds and ages, and is delivered across 40 city and rural
locations nationwide. All our courses are available at no cost and are supplied
by Mission Australia.
We
are seeking EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST from Teachers/Assessors, to provide
teaching and assessing services in language, literacy and numeracy to Mission
Australia clients.
You
will be responsible for
  • Delivering
    Skills for Education & Employment (SEE) services, achieving
    contractual Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as well as financial
    targets.
  • Developing
    and maintaining networks with referring agencies to maximize referrals and
    in addition,
  • Effectively
    motivating, and educating job seekers from vastly different experiences
    and educational backgrounds,
  • Administrative
    functions to assist outcomes for clients and the organisation.
The
qualifications essential to deliver our Curriculum are:
  • An
    undergraduate degree (AQF Level 7) of at least three years duration,
    education or related; and
  • A
    Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 (Inc. TAELLN401A or
    TAELLN411A)
AND
appropriate qualifications to teach the relevant curriculum;
  • Post
    Graduate Speciality Adult Literacy & Numeracy Qualification or
  • Post
    Graduate Speciality TESOL Qualification OR Bachelor of Education (TESOL)
AND
  • 100
    hours Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or Adult
    Literacy/Numeracy in the last three years
As
a Teacher, you will have Demonstrable expertise in teaching literacy and
numeracy or Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). Including an
understanding of adult literacy and numeracy pedagogy and the socio – cultural
factors affecting literacy learning, including language as a social and
cultural phenomenon and the importance of context. Also an ability to implement
creative and structured teaching programs using curricula and/or training
packages and an understanding of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF)
