Changing the heart using the word of God
Reading the story of Jesus Christ and following the kind and impartial way dealing with people can bring a remarkable change in the life of people involved in violent acts.
Brotherhood Based on Love
Social groups and religious leaders should ensure that their activities are based on love and racial harmony rather than a practice that seem to promote hatred, tribalism, nationalism and racial prejudices
Religious Leaders Should Sue for Peace at all Times
Religious leaders suing for peace at all times can curb violence and wade off hostilities, loyalty to race, nation or ethnic roots which are the divisive forces that breed terrorism by trying to pit one person or nation against the other.
For instance, in 1914, Gavrilo Princip was moved by ethnic pride to assassinate Arch-duke Francis Ferdinand, heir of the Austro-Hungarian throne. Princip was a member of the organization called the Black Hand which according to its constitution, preferred “revolutionary struggle rather that cultural striving” in pursuing its goals.
The assassination sparked war between so-called Christian nations, leading to World War I and the death of millions of combatants who claims to follow Jesus, the “Prince of Peace.” After the war ended, a prominent clergyman, Harry Emerson Fosdick denounced professed Christian leaders for not teaching their members to follow Jesus’ example “We have bred men for war”, he wrote , “We made warriors our heroes and even in our churches use the battle flags,” Fosdick concluded, “With one corner of our mouths we have praised the Prince of Peace and with the other, we have glorified war.”
