The
Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) Australia is the leading external dispute
resolution scheme for the financial services sector. FOS offers fair,
independent and accessible dispute resolution for consumers who are unable to
resolve complaints with member financial services providers.
We
are looking to appoint a Conciliator on a full-time, fixed-term contract.
The
main purpose of this role is t

o conduct conciliation conferences and facilitate
negotiations to resolve disputes between Financial Service Providers and
applicants.

To
be considered for this role you will ideally have:
  • Training
    and accreditation or experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR),
    in particular conciliation or mediation. Alternatively, a qualification in
    law that includes study of ADR;
  • Minimum
    two years’ experience conducting conciliations or working in a dispute
    resolution role.
  • Knowledge
    of financial services and products;
  • Excellent
    oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate
    complex legal and/or financial concepts in plain English.
  • Strong
    written and analytical skills;
  • The
    ability to manage a caseload in an efficient, fair and timely manner with
    a clear customer focus on achieving timely and fair outcomes; and
  • Ability
    to work autonomously and as part of a team
