The UTS Faculty of
Health is recruiting for an outstandin
g Research Officer to work across a
portfolio of National Health and Medical Research Council projects with a
justice health focus.
The UTS Faculty of
Health offers innovative, practice-based education and high impact research
that focuses on improving health outcomes in both local and global communities.
The
Research Officer will work across a range of research activities
contributing to the justice health research portfolio and assist in the
analysis and outputs of results.
Main
duties/responsibilities:
- Complete
a literature review of the role of health and correctional personnel in
health service delivery to marginalised populations with a focus
on Indigenous women in contact with the criminal justice system - Contribute
to coding and analysis of interview data collected with health and
correctional personnel as part of a national health research project in
the area of social and emotional wellbeing and resilience
of Indigenous women in prison - Contribute
to consultation/external engagement processes with health and correctional
personnel for the interpretation and translation of data - Provide
secretariat support for a forum including a focus group to inform
translation of findings and specific recommendations for health and
correctional services for professional development and skills training
among workers in the delivery of health services in NSW prisons - Contribute
to the publication of high quality research in internationally recognised
peer-reviewed academic journals, books and conferences - Contribute
to grant applications for additional external research funding as agreed
with supervisor
Main
skills/experience required:
- Postgraduate
qualifications completed (or near completion) in Social Sciences, Public
Health or related field - Demonstrated
research experience focused upon an area of prisoner health/health
services/ women’s health/public health or other relevant research
area/field - Ability
to effectively liaise with collaborative research partners and groups
within and beyond research field - Ability
to co-author quality academic peer-reviewed research publications - Demonstrated
ability to apply rigorous qualitative methods to the empirical study of
prisoner health/health services/ women’s health/public health or other
relevant research area/field - Demonstrated
ability to conduct a systematic review of the literature - Demonstrated
competence in the use of Nvivo software, MS Office, Endnote
Remuneration
Base Salary
Range: $83,177 to 92, 014 pa (HEW 7)
The university
offers 9.5% employer provided superannuation. Employee benefits include

This appointment
will be on a fixed
term full-time basis for a period of 6 months.
