Where you come in:
In this full-time
permanent position, based in Melbourne or Canberra; you will be responsible for
leading our policy analysis and advocacy on humanitarian affairs. With a focus
on Asia and the Pacific, you will enhance Save the Children’s reputation among
key stakeholders as a primary source of policy analysis on children in, or at
risk of humanitarian emergencies. You will be part of our dynamic Public
Affairs team and report to our Head of Advocacy and Policy.
You will make an
impact by:
- Leading
execution of advocacy strategy with a core focus on humanitarian
effectiveness, as well as health and education in emergencies - Producing
high quality and evidenced submissions, policy papers and research reports
to drive humanitarian advocacy, including leading sector-wide efforts and
contributing to global products - Representing
on humanitarian policy issues to key stakeholders including Politicians,
Government and think tanks to position Save the Children as the go-to
humanitarian organisation for children
Acting
as a spokesperson for media, ultimately using a full array of advocacy tools to
drive key advocacy outcomes
we could compose the perfect you
will have high-level and robust policy analysis skills, paired with an ability
to engage both critically and constructively with government and partners on
current and emerging humanitarian affairs. You will have an in-depth
understanding and proven experience in using an array of advocacy tools to
influence change, including private and public advocacy. You have the confidence
and good judgement to make difficult decisions in complex and fast-moving
policy areas, and work efficiently in high pressure contexts.
role requires:
University
degree in international relations, law, development or related topic.
- At
least 3 years of experience in humanitarian programming and/or policy,
including experience in emergency / conflict environments. - Highly
developed research and policy analysis skills, including the ability to
develop policy products for a variety of audiences, such as government
submissions, policy briefs and research reports. - Understanding
of advocacy and of how to capitalise upon key influencing opportunities,
particularly political lobbying.
Excellent
written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to network and
build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
