IPAR Rwanda Research Interns Jobs Vacancies in Rwanda

The Institute of Policy Analysis and Research-Rwanda is a local Think Tank whose mission is to carry out rigors public policy analysis and research to inform Government policy and ultimately improve the lives of ordinary Rwandans. We have core funding from the African Capacity Building Foundation and International Development and Research Consortium. We also rise funding from a variety of sources to fund specific research projects. As a result of our increasing success at attracting funding we have the following vacancies.

Two Research Interns – SPLASH, 18 month contract
We are seeking to appoint two research interns on 18 month contracts to work on a project funded by the European Water Initiative, Self-sustaining Sanitation Chains in Informal Settlements. Applicants must have or expect to have by the end of 2011 a 1st (grand distinction) or 2.1 (distinction) honours degree in applied statistics, economics, sociology, public policy, geography or related subject. In addition they must have had training in qualitative and quantitative social research methods and practical experience of carrying out research.

For all posts preference may be given to suitably qualified women as they are currently underrepresented in research posts. In order to ensure a balanced project team at least one of the research interns for the SPLASH project will be female.

Applicants for all posts must have excellent oral and written English.
Research interns must be Rwandan by nationality and have excellent Kinyarwanda.
All research staff at IPAR participates in the Staff Development and Performance Review process and are given the opportunity to participate in staff development. The interns will be given opportunities to systematically develop their research skills. The two interns appointed to work on SPLAH will participate in training offered by consortium partners and must be prepared to travel to Uganda and Kenya.
