VGM Partners LLC is looking for an expert for the following EC Framework project in Rwanda:
PROJECT NAME: Review of decentralization, soil protection and non-traditional value chain development in Rwanda’s agriculture sector to inform the sector strategy 2013-17
Global objective: Support MINAGRI in the preparation of the upcoming poverty reduction- (EDPRS-2, 2013-17) and agriculture sector strategy (SPAT-3, 2013-17).

POSITION: Senior Expert in analyzing horticultural investment opportunities
Required minimum qualification/expertise/experience:
• University Degree or Postgraduate Degree in Economics, Agribusiness, Agricultural- Economics or any other related discipline covering the subjects of value chain analysis and market studies in the agricultural or horticultural sector.
• Experience in market-, profitability- and competitive analysis in the horticultural sector.
• Experience in at least 2 of the following sub-sectors: vegetables, fruits, essential oils, pyrethrum.
Desired qualification/expertise/experience:
• Private sector working experience related to agribusiness development, preferably in the horticultural sector
• Experience with the analysis of legal and administrative framework and driving /constraining factors for agribusiness development.
• Experience with inclusive pro-poor business models in the agricultural sector.
• Experience with analysing the pro-poor impacts of agribusiness development strategies.
• Experience in analysing market-oriented rural infrastructure.
• Experience with social and/or environmental standards and certification schemes applicable to the horticultural sector.
• Professional experience in the Great Lakes Region and particularly in Rwanda.
• Excellent knowledge of English
