Job Title: General Manager Operations
Department: Operations
Reporting: Deputy CEO
Key tasks:
Provision of a safe and compliant operation
Maintenance of the Company’s AOC
Reduce operational costs and increase On-Time Performance (OTP)
Participate in new aircraft purchase/lease negotiations.
Establishing the criteria for the recruitment of key operational staff
Through their direct reports, provision of aircraft, air crews and support functions to satisfy network requirement
Development of an appropriate standard of safety for the Operations Division.
Ongoing development of the Operations Division Management team.
Ensuring the Company’s Compliance Statement is up to date.
Maintenance of the Company’s Operations Specifications
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer on the operational performance of the business.
Develop an Operational Plan based on the requirements of the Commercial Plan.
Providing adequate financial funding to ensure the safety of the operation
Conduct route data analysis including data for new route evaluations
Approve the annual audit schedule.
Provide the infrastructure, training and resources required for an effective SMS
Provide all operational departments with SMS policies and procedures
Facilitate the application of all SMS policies and procedures to all personnel
Communicate the objectives and direct the applications of the SMS through the appropriate management structure.
Ensure safe maintenance and overhaul of fleet
Ensure SMS responsibilities are appropriately assigned to relevant personnel.
Ensure that effective audit and inspection processes are implemented and evaluated to monitor the effectiveness of the SMS
Ensure compliance with security regulations and company security procedures
Coordinate risk assessments
Through direct reports, provision of aircraft, aircrews, and support functions to satisfy network requirements and to provide a safe operation
Investigation of serious accidents involving death or serious injuries to any person, serious damage to aircraft or damage to property
Authorities:
Staff assignments and selection for personnel within operations
Selection of third party service providers
Performance evaluation of direct reports
Accountabilities:

Air Operators Certificate Management
Recruitment and selection of the Operations Divisions personnel
Required skills:
Ability to understand aircraft operations
Finance ability
Broad based understanding or aircraft maintenance and engineering aspects
Process design and development capability
Ability to work in a structured environment
Self-motivation
Communication skills
Required Education & Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the field of airline operations or comparable experience in an advisory role
Leadership experience in airline operations
Management of a medium to large airline operation at a senior level
A Bsc in Science, preferably in engineering or other related fields,
Having an IATA accredited courses in the field of aviation is an added advantage
