Duration of project: July 4-31, 2012
Purpose:
The Research Assistant will work directly under the Reproductive Health Survey Team Leader in implementing a population-based RH survey in two refugee camps. The survey will be implemented using the Center for Control and Prevention’s Toolkit in order to quantitatively assess RH risks, services, and outcomes in Congolese refugee women between 15 and 49 years of age.
Summary of Responsibilities and Duties:
• Provide direct logistical support to the study coordinator (RH Survey Team Leader) in all areas of survey implementation, including logistical preparation, training, data collection, data entry, and report writing.
• Responsible for ensuring survey translation and back-translation takes place in a timely and professional manner.
• Responsible for all aspects of training interviewers and locators in each location, including the logistical preparation for the practice test in each location.
• Responsible for overseeing a team of interviewers and locators in each location during training and implementation phases.
• Oversee quality assurance during data collection: ensure that each survey is filled out completely before the participant leaves the interview location.
• Assist in data entry and the interpretation of data.
• Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Past experience working in a health-related field and experience in implementing elated surveys
• Fluency in Kinyarwanda and either English or French is a must
• Experience in relief programs and refugee camps is an advantage
• Knowledge of Computer skills
• Spirit of teamwork
