The Environmental Health Group at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is a thriving multidisciplinary group with research activities in hygiene, sanitation, water and behaviour change. The Group is seeking a Research Assistant
to manage an epidemiological study in Rwanda to evaluate the health impact of a large-scale project to deliver and promote the use of water filters and high-efficiency stoves at the household level.
The position requires:
(i) a Masters degree or PhD in epidemiology or public health with emphasis in environmental health;
(ii) a minimum one year managing epidemiological research in Rwanda in the area of environmental health;
(iii) a minimum two years experience conducting epidemiological research in environmental health in low-income countries, and
(iv) experience recruiting, training and managing staff in low-income countries.
The post also requires experience and experience in developing and managing project budgets; demonstrated success in writing proposals for research grants; experience in establishing, training staff and supervising laboratories for environmental sampling and assaying; and experience in managing and analysing data using statistical packages including Epi Info, Excel, Stata.
The position is based in Rwanda.
The post is from 1 October 2012 (or ASAP) to 31 January 2013, continuation after 31st January 2013 is however subject to the availability of funding.
The post is a part-time at the 0.7FTE level with a salary of £31,065 (pro-rata per annum inclusive).
