Applications
Chemonics International, a global Consulting and international development
firm, is seeking Grants applications from Rwandan non-governmental organizations
for the USAID-funded Rwanda Family Health Project (RFHP). RFHP is a five-year
project designed to:
1. Increase demand for facility and community-based family health (FH)
services;
2. Strengthen management of facility and community-based FH services;
3. Improve quality of facility and community-based FH services; and
4. Expand access to FH services, primarily by increasing the number of skilled
health care providers.
Grant Details:
RFHP anticipates awarding three separate grants to competent local NGOs to
implement three different community level activities in selected districts.
Applicants are free to apply to one or more activities.
1. Integrated Community
Outreach Campaign
RFHP intends to award one 3-month grant to an eligible Rwandan NGO to launch
two distinct community outreach campaigns in selected districts. The first
campaign will be implemented in Kayonza and Rwamagana districts and will be an
integrated campaign focusing on Family Planning (FP), Antenatal Care (ANC) and
nutrition. The second campaign will be implemented in Ngoma and Kirehe
districts and will focus exclusively on malaria. The objective of both
campaigns is to create an increased demand (from community members) for the
services covered by the each campaign (FP, ANC, nutrition and malaria). This
objective will be accomplished through community outreach and media activities
and with the support and involvement of local leaders. RFHP intends to award a
grant to an organization that has successfully completed community-based demand
generation campaigns to improve awareness and understanding of key health
topics.
2. Support to CHMV
Cooperatives in Rwamagana
RFHP plans to award up to one 12-month grant to an eligible Rwandan NGO to
build community health workers'(CHW) capacity to manage and improve the
performance of their cooperatives in the Rwamagana district. The primary
purpose of the activity is to Strengthen the CHW cooperatives’ capacity to
address current management challenges, including their ability to run as profitable
businesses. The grantee will also assist the organization in building its
capacity to implement more profitable and sustainable cooperative activities.
RFHP intends to award grants to organizations that have successfully
implemented activities related to cooperative development and management and
whose approach demonstrates understanding of key challenges facing the
cooperatives.
3. Support to CHW
Cooperatives in Nyamagabe
RFHP plans to award up to one 12-month grant to an eligible Rwandan NGO to build
community health workers’ (CHW) capacity to manage and improve the performance
of their cooperatives in the Nyamagabe district. The primary purpose of the
activity is to strengthen the CHW cooperatives’ capacity to address current
management challenges, including their ability to run as profitable businesses.
The grantee will also assist the organization in building its capacity to
implement more profitable and sustainable cooperative activities. RFHP intends
to award grants to organizations that have successfully implemented activities
related to cooperative development and management and whose approach
demonstrates understanding of key challenges facing the cooperatives.
Application Instructions:
To receive a full copy of any of the above Requests for Applications (RFAs),
please email grantsapplications@rwandafhp.org. Please include your
organization’s name in the subject line and specify which RFA activities you
are interested in applying to. Individual applicants may apply to one or more
of the activities. Note that the issuance date for the RFAs is June 26,2013 and
the closing date is July 26,2013. For each activity a pre-application workshop
is scheduled as follows:
1. Tuesday July 9,2013 from: 9:OOAM to 12:00 PM for the Integrated Community
Outreach Campaigns
2. Wednesday July 10,2013 from: 9:OOAM to 12:00 PM for the Support to CHWs’
Cooperative Development
The workshop will be held at the Rwanda Family Health Project Offices to allow
eligible and interested applicants the chance to ask questions about the RFA
and receive guidance on how to complete the application form. Up to two people
may attend from each organization.
