Aegis Trust is an
INGO whose aim is to prevent crimes against humanity and who manages Kigali
Genocide Memorial. Besides managing the Memorial, Aegis Trust has several
programs including education programs, the Genocide Archive of Rwanda, Social
Enterprises and Social Programs. This is an exciting opportunity for someone
who wants to advance his/her career and has the ambition to work in an INGO
with the focus on prevention of crimes against humanity. At the moment Aegis
Trust would like to recruit qualified candidates to fulfil the Audiovisual Specialist job
vacancy.
- Collaborates
in the processing of archival collections by carrying out select
processing activities; coordinating and participating with assigned
projects. preparing accession records, inventories and finding aids for
assigned collections; - Provides
for the preservation of and access to audiovisual materials in all
collections by reassessing policies and procedures; selecting and
establishing an automated system of access; and maintaining current
archival standards. - Serves
as liaison to the audio and video collections. - Manages
reproduction and copyright issues related to use of audiovisual materials
in collections. - Provides
for the preservation of and access to the audiovisual collections by
staying abreast of trends relating new technologies through continuing
education and consultation with management. - Providing
instruction to other staff members and partners as needed. - Participates
in general departmental administration by contributing to the planning and
developing of special projects, functions and exhibits. - Maintains
an awareness of current trends in the archival field by participating in
professional activities. - Other
duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Strong
organizational ability. - Working
knowledge of historical research methodology and experience with standard
bibliographic tools. - Effective
oral and written communication skills in Kinyarwanda, English, and French. - Must
have interviewing skills. - Knowledge
of current cataloging standards. - Experience
working with and strong knowledge of video and audio formats. - Knowledge
of audiovisual preservation and copyright issues. - Experience
with computer applications for archival collections and audiovisual
editing and playback.
