Participatory Ecological Land Use Management
(PELUM) Rwanda is a network of civil society organizations in Rwanda passionate
about equity, people’s driven development and integrity of creation, working
towards a sustainable local community empowerment, food security and prosperity
by facilitating networking, capacity building and advocacy.

Since 2004, PELUM Rwanda works to improve the
livelihoods of small scale farmers and the sustainability of farming
communities, by fostering ecological land use management (ELUM) practices.
Through linkages, PELUM Rwanda shares skills and knowledge about good practices
and techniques, through a broad network of likeminded organizations; undertake
research and demonstration projects; and advocate for policies that better
support small scale farmers.
To achieve its objectives, PELUM Rwanda is seeking
to recruit a competent country coordinator.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the development and implementation of
    appropriate policies, structures and systems for the effective and
    efficient pursuit of PELUM Rwanda’s mission.
  • Coordinate the implementation of PELUM
    Rwanda’s activities and initiatives according to the Strategic Plan and
    other Plans.
  • Support the development of Member
    Organizations of PELUM Rwanda and particularly support the professional
    growth of Member Organizations.
  • Report to the country board and participate in
    country board meetings and act as secretary to the country board
  • Ensure full compliance with donor requirement
    in relation to institutional funding secured for the PELUM Rwanda program.
  • Network actively and play a lead role in
    management level dialogue with donors and other INGOs on accessing and
    managing institutional funding.
  • Maintain direct links to the PELUM association
    regional secretariat as appropriate,     keeping them
    informed of the PELUM Rwanda progress.
  • Establish and manage good relations with all
    funding partners, Board Members and other key development partners, including
    through the provision of periodic reports.
  • Coordinate the reviewing and monitoring off
    strategic and annual work plans and budgets.
  • Ensure effective and efficient performance of
    objectives, outcomes and activities by ensuring all PELUM Rwanda activities
    are monitored and evaluated according tom the appropriate M&E systems
    are in place and operational.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the
    General Assembly and the Board of Directors.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A university degree in either of the following
    disciplines; Rural development, Project Management, Agricultural Business
    Management, Agricultural Economics or any other related domain and a
    minimum of 5 years experience in senior positions. Having worked in Civil
    Society would be an added value.
