Profile: Partners In Health (PIH) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in
Boston, MA, whose mission is to provide quality health care for the poor and
marginalized in Haiti, Rwanda, Lesotho, Malawi, Peru, Mexico, Russia, Dominican
Republic, and Navajo Nation. In addition, PIH has a growing network of
affiliated organizations and initiatives in several other countries, including
Nepal, Burundi, Mali, Liberia, and Togo. Through service delivery, training,
advocacy and research, PIH works around the globe to bring the benefits of
modern medical science to those most in need of it, to serve as an antidote to

PIH began working in Rwanda in 2005, where today we serve a catchment area of
800,000 through 37 health centers and three hospitals with our sister
organization, Inshuti Mu Buzima (IMB). Taking the lessons learned and expertise
honed in Haiti, our efforts in Rwanda have achieved rapid success, gaining the
attention of both the highest levels of the Government of Rwanda and the
international community. Through partnership with the Ministry of Health in our
efforts, we have already helped to strengthen the public health system in the
areas we serve and are helping the government develop plans to replicate
elements of our model throughout the country. Summary of Role: This is a
full-time position intended to manage a central database of oncology research
data sets, contribute to workflow improvements to support reliable
outcomes-oriented data capture and coordinate cancer research activities. In so
doing, this position will support institutional repository of research-related
data, elevate capacity for cancer research conducted at IMB and ultimately
facilitate sharing of our experience in delivery complex cancer services in
resource limited setting. Specific Responsibilities:
maintain central database for all oncology-related research (data that is not
within EMR); merge data sets as needed to address specific research questions
with HIS team and NCD team members doing research to clean and verify EMR data
extracted for research purposes
NCD Program Director and Associate Directors, support clinical forms revision
and oncology/pathology data back entry
EMR program assistants with oncology data quality audits
team members doing cancer research in areas including literature review, paper
chart extraction, data collection, data cleaning, basic data analysis
Qualifications:
Degree or higher (MPH a bonus)
spoken and written English (fluency in French a bonus)
with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint (experience using STATA or SAS a
bonus)
clinical research coordination, and in related literature review, academic
writing and basic data analysis (cancer-related research a bonus)
time-management and coordination skills, ability to keep track of multiple
tasks at once
critical thinking and complex problem solving
communication skills, ability to work well with diverse team and exhibit
humility, respect and team spirit
