(IMB). Taking the lessons learned and expertise honed in Haiti, our efforts in
Rwanda have achieved rapid success, gaining the attention of both the highest
levels of the Government of Rwanda and the international community. Through
partnership with the Ministry of Health in our efforts, we have already helped
to strengthen the public health system in the areas we serve and are helping
the government develop plans to replicate elements of our model throughout the
country.

General
Responsibilities: The District Clinical Advisor is a volunteer position
that serves as a focal point for medical education and clinical teaching,
supports the leadership of the district to build and coordinate clinical
services, provides programmatic support and clinical mentoring to clinical
staff, and helps maintain high quality clinical services at all levels of the
district health system in accordance with Ministry of Health norms.
Responsibilities: The District Clinical Advisor is a volunteer position

Specific
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical teaching, mentorship and
capacity building of Rwandan clinicians through participation in daily
clinical rounds, outpatient clinics, academic presentations, case review,
and other activities. - Assist in clinical services at the District
Hospital level, including emergency room, intensive care services, and
expanded outpatient services. - Assist the District Hospital in improving access
to specialized services through improved referral systems and effective
partnerships with local specialists and visiting clinicians. - Strengthen the capacity of diagnostic
departments, including the laboratory and radiology and the use of diagnostic
technology to improve patient care. - Provide feedback to the District Hospital
leadership on strategies to improve clinical outcomes and participate
actively in quality improvement activities - Develop clinical training plans and provide both
didactic and bedside clinical learning for hospital general practitioners
and staff - Establish and reinforce mechanisms to ensure
access to care and social assistance - Strengthen community-based care, particularly
around HIV, non-communicable chronic diseases, and mental health - Supervise the work of visiting foreign
clinicians, including specialists and medical students
Qualifications:
- Fully licensed physician in the areas of internal
medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics / gynecology, surgery, family medicine /
general practice, or other clinical sub-specialties - Previous clinical experience in resource-poor
context - Ability to commit at least six-months for
field-based clinical duty; one-year commitment preferred - English fluency; French proficiency is beneficial
but not required - Proven commitment to the care of poor and
marginalized communities
