The overall objective of the Project is to strengthen
food security in Bugesera region by increasing agricultural production, setting
up irrigation infrastructure in 750 ha of Gashora marshland, protecting
catchments and improving rain-fed farming of hills as well as building the
capacity of farmers and supervisory institutions.

The Livestock Single Project Implementation Unit
(SPIU) that carries out PAIRB Project implementation seeks to recruit suitable
and competent candidates for the following post:

Under the direct supervision of the Irrigation
Infrastructures and Land Husbandry Program Manager, the Technician in-charge of
Electrical Pump Mechanics will carry out the following tasks:

Electrical Pump Mechanics will carry out the following tasks:
- Diagnose problems on all the irrigation pumping
units at the irrigation scheme; - Diagnose and repair electrical control panels of
irrigation pump units; - Develop technical specifications for supplying of
spares parts for the pumps; - Perform field service to pumping units and pump
stations equipment; - Carry out routine maintenance inspections of pump
stations; - Commission and troubleshoot pumps and electrical
controls, both in the workshop and in the field; - Operate the pumps as required;
- Any other duties as specified by the Program
Manager;
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least a Technician level (A2 Minimum) in a
relevant field such as Electricity, Electro-Mechanic, Electronics, - Majored in an Mechanical field with working
knowledge of pump electrics - Having industry experience of 1 to 2 years in
troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of pumping equipment would be an
asset. - Fluency in English and/or French would be a major
advantage.
