Communities is looking for a qualified and experienced consultancy firm to work
with newly established groups to help them to clarify their vision and goals
for the future through a simple strategic planning process. These five
groups are working with key populations and some way wish to grow into
cooperatives; others may seek to grow to become local civil society
organizations. develop a simple strategic plan that will help them
to guide their work. The consultants must use a participatory
approach to ensure that each group owns and leads the process so that each
group formulates a simple, yet clear action plan to guide their work in the
coming 1-2 years. This will include facilitating a 2-day workshop
with representatives from each group to orient them through a series of
visioning exercises to clarify their purpose and goals for the future, and
mentoring them to follow a simple strategic planning process to guide their
work. (Please note that many of the members of these groups have limited
education, the approach and tools for this exercise must meet the needs of
low-literate audiences.)

- Develop
a plan and tools to be used during the strategic planning process. - Facilitate

weaknesses and strengths of their organization - Review
and clarify the mission and vision & purpose of their organization - Consult
members on their key needs, priorities, and expectations from the
organization. - Develop
simple action plans to guide their development and growth in the coming
1-2 years. - Understand
the relevant policies and services to key populations in order to
position their organization/members to maximize the use/benefit of the
available support. - Facilitate
a 1-day workshop where each group presents their strategic plans.
Requirements
- At
least 2 years experience working with community groups, especially newly
established groups. - Advanced
knowledge of organizational development principles and practices. - Fluency
in English and Kinyarwanda. - Advanced
experience using participatory methods - Excellent
interpersonal and analytical skills. - Superior
writing skills – ability to prepare concise, user-friendly reports. - Comfortable
and experience working with vulnerable populations.
