Save the Children
seeks a Nutrition Technical Advisor for a $19M USAID-funded Integrated
Nutrition and WASH project in Rwanda. USAID/Rwanda is exploring the development
of a new nutrition/water, sanitation, and hygiene integrated activity with the
anticipated goal of addressing chronic malnutrition in Rwanda through social
and behavior change approaches. The project will aim to improve the health and
nutritional status of Rwandans in order to accelerate Rwanda’s progress to
middle income status and better quality of life through sustained growth and
poverty reduction. Through INWA, USAID/Rwanda will contribute to improvements
in the nutritional status of women of reproductive age and children under five
years of age, with an emphasis on the 1,000 day window of opportunity from
pregnancy until a child’s second birthday. INWA is expected to reach an
estimated 324,000 children under five years of age and their mothers with
nutrition interventions and 574,000 households with hygiene interventions.
The Nutrition
Technical Advisor will provide technical leadership and direction for the
project and will have responsibility for all activities associated with
improving the nutritional status of the beneficiaries.S/he will oversee
implementation of the community based nutrition activities, both CBNP and
supplemental activities as well as support capacity building efforts as they
relate to nutrition.
Qualified candidates
should possess the following:
- Master’s
degree or higher in nutrition, public health, food security or in a
closely related field is required; - Minimum
of seven years of experience designing, implementing or supporting
nutrition programming, preferably in Rwanda is highly desired; - Understanding
and experience of the Rwanda context is desirable - Strong
technical skills in community based nutrition and social behavior change
required with care groups and positive deviance/hearth experience
preferred, - Technical
knowledge in food security and agriculture desired; - Experience
integrating food security interventions into nutrition programming is
desirable; - Excellent
written and verbal English language skills; - Level
IV (fluent – reading/writing/speaking) Kinyarwanda language ability is
desirable. - History
of engagement with USAID-funded initiatives preferred.
