Organization based in the United-States. AKAZI KANOZE provides youth, ages
14-35, with market-relevant life and work readiness training and support,
hands-on training opportunities, and links into the employment and
self-employment job market. AKAZI KANOZE 2 aims at the institutionalization of
the Work Readiness and School to Work Transition in the Rwanda formal secondary
school – TVET and high school so to equip graduates with necessary skills that
enable them to gain a meaningful transition.

DUTIES
The AK2 assistant will work under the
M&E Coordinator to undertake tasks related to AkaziKanoze 2 data management
systems. S/he will work with the AK2 M&E Coordinator, AK DCOP, and a
software consultant to develop a monitoring database, which will be used by the
project. In addition to his/her primary function to develop the database, the
assistant will also work on survey programming in SurveyToGo, data quality
assessments (DQAs), and improving the functionality of the technology that the
AK2 project uses. This position is located in Kigali/Rwanda and may require
travel upcountry.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:
- Assist
in assessing data processing, storage and reporting needs of the project - Work
with AK 2 team to develop AK2 project database and suggest the best
technology to use in this regard. - Assist
in testing and deploying AK2 database - Train
staff from partner organizations who will be using the database - Help
in managing the AK 2 database and generate reports as needed - Help
in conducting database maintenance and updates of the database as needed - Assist
in developing the database user manual - Provide
input for improving data management systems as necessary
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Assist
AK2 M&E team in data collection and processing - Assist
the M&E team in training and supervising the enumerators - Assist
M&E in conducting external assessment of AK 2 beneficiaries - SurveyToGo
survey programming - Finding
ways to stay in touch with youth using innovative technology - Conducting
Data Quality Assessments (DQAs) - Improving
functionality of tablets (e.g. syncing SurveyToGo with database
possibility) - Work
on updating AK1 database from Access to QuickBase (pending approval) - Assist
office staff to solve IT and internet problems as they arise
- Any
other activity as assigned by Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s
Degree in information technology or related field with strong
database/data management skills – MS Access, SQL, and VBA. - Minimum
of one year experience in database management. - Strong
interest in learning about M&E. - Excellent
communication, teamwork and writing skills. - Fluency
in English and Kinyarwanda. - Experience
designing and coordinating monitoring systems desired.
