Duties & responsibilities:
Job Purpose:
ICAP at Columbia University, under
guidance from CDC, have proposed to compare outcomes among HIV-positive
children less than 5 years of age before and after the implementation of
changing guidelines to recommend immediate initiation on ART of all children
under 5 years of age.
SCOPE OF WORKA
The engagement will involve abstracting
paper-based medical records from study participants at health facilities in
Rwanda, entering data into the study electronic database, assisting the Study
Coordinator with error checking and data quality assurance activities,
transferring completed electronic records to the central study server housed at
Columbia University-New York, data management and other study related
procedures for a period of approximately 3 months.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble
    necessary materials for data collection
  • Travel
    in teams to health facilities
  • Pull
    medical records
  • Enter
    data from medical records into study electronic database
  • Respond
    to requests for error checks
  • Conduct
    data quality assurance activities
  • Securely
    transfer databases to central study server
  • Back-up
    the data daily using an external hard disc, weekly using a secure server
  • Assure
    all data are entered and cleaned in line with the GCP
  • Audit
    data to verify all quality standards are met during performance of the
    process.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information coveredinalldatacollectiontools
  • Generate
    regular reports and respond to inquiries regarding entered data as
    requested
  • Perform
    other duties as requested by the study coordinator.
Education/ Qualification
Bachelor degree or diploma in any
discipline. Bachelor degree in nursing will be an added value.
Skills/competency 
  • Ability
    to use Open MRS effectively
  • Knowledge
    of records management procedures;
  • Ability
    to operate various word-processing programs including Microsoft Excel,
    Microsoft Word
  • Previous
    experience in data collection in other research studies
  • Willingness
    to travel to health facilities across Rwanda for short periods
  • Proficiency
    in written and spoken Kinyarwanda and English or French
Minimum work experience
2 years of
