Dimensions
of Role:
The
Livelihoods Officer will be responsible for the design, implementation,
monitoring and evaluation of the life skills component and will provide
strategic guidance to refugees and youth groups and will work in close
collaboration with both Protection Teams and partners in Mahama camp. S/he
will be responsible for providing accurate and timely documentation of
activi
ties and ensuring the project is complying SIDA/Plan requirements and
is implemented as planned.

In
collaboration with the Gender-based Violence Specialist and Protection Team:
- Ensure
the implementation of life skills related activities in the camp
in compliance of Plan International policies and based on the approved
work plan
- Lead
a meeting at the camp level for introducing the component of life skills
and engaging with youth and refuges at large in income generating
activities
- Organize
and conduct the training of refugees on life skills and mentorship
skills in the camps
- Support
youth s and refugees in developing a community service project for
self- reliance
- Monitor
all activities of youth groups and entire refugees provide regular
reports and updates to the Gender-based Violence Specialist and Project
coordinator.
Key
deliverables and indicators for success
- Submit
weekly, monthly and quarterly progress reports reflecting results by
using a template provided by SIDA
- Organize
regular meetings with adolescent groups for technical support
- Keep
project records
- Collect,
share and disseminate project best practices and lessons learned on a
quarterly basis
Dealing
with Problems:
The
Livelihoods Officer will work closely with community members and will be
required to manage the relationships between different actors involved in the
camp. Mistake in judgement or poor coordination between partners may lead to
the failure of the project, impacting Plan’s reputation. Therefore, the
Livelihood Officer should demonstrate the ability to solve problems, think
strategically and communicate with key actors in a dynamic and sometimes
unpredictable operating environment.
Experience
- University
degree or equivalent in Social Science, Social Work, Development studies
or related fields
- Minimum
of 3 years relevant working experience with refugees and other
vulnerable populations.
- Work
experience in Gender and Gender Based violence and Child Protection as
well.
- Work
experience with vulnerable groups in implementing community service
projects.
- Prior
experience working with refugees and other vulnerable populations.
- Working
experience in a similar role and experience in working with bilateral
organizations or INGOs
