PROGRAM MISSION:
The
overall goal of ARC’s program in Rwanda is to improve the well-being and
self-reliance of the displaced refugee population from eastern DRC and Burundi
by ensuring the provision of basic services (adequate health care &
nutrition, shelter, water, sanitation & hygiene, HIV/AIDS prevention &
treatment), improving food security and enabling economic recovery in six
refugee camps located in Rwanda.

PRIMARY
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
:
The
Community Health Education Officer is responsible to oversee the peer educators
and Community Female Mentors activities regarding Adolescent Sexual
Reproductive Health Services including, conducting campaign related to Sexual
Reproductive Health. While he/she will report to the Community Health Education
Coordinator, the CHEO will work in collaboration with Health team from both
Mahama 1 and Mahama 2 to plan and implement innovative community activities.
This will include community mobilization, sensitization and behavior change
communication.

Duties
and Responsibilities
  1. Develop
    and support community health education activities related to SRH in Mahama
    refugee camp.
  2. Supervise
    and monitor the routine activities performed by the peer educators and
    community female mentors on ASRH services.
  3. Ensure
    that the proposed SRH campaigns are conducted in a manner that involves
    the community and according to set standards
  4. Design
    and monitor effectiveness of program inputs and outputs.
  5. Compile
    and submit monthly and quarterly reports for the project activities.
  6. Collaborate
    with direct Supervisor to organize and facilitate health related training
    according to the needs assessment ,
  7. Collaborate
    with other ARC/Rwanda departments,
  8.  Perform
    any other duties assigned by the supervisor, or any other ARC Senior
    Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Diploma/Advanced
    school certificate in in Community health or environmental health sciences
    or any related field,
  • Ability
    to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing.
  • Fluent
    in Kinyarwanda, English or French
  • Previous
    experience in  Community health especially with INGO
  • Ability
    to live and work in isolated areas in Rwanda.
