A British tourist has plunged to his death, killing a local man on the ground after falling off the seventh floor of a hotel in Spain in Marbella.
The double tragedy happened at the 5-star Melia Don Pepe Hotel in Marbella at 1.45am this morning, July 11th.
The tourist said to be in his 50s plummetted from the balcony of the hotel, killing the 43-year-old Spanish victim as he enjoyed a late-night drink on the terrace below. The two men instantly died.
The Brit had been on holiday with his family, according to local reports, after Brits had been allowed to travel to Spain following the easing of the lockdown by the country.
A source said: “The man who jumped or fell is a British man aged around 50.
“The man who was enjoying a drink on the hotel terrace below him is a 43-year-old Spaniard.”
Police are now trying to determine whether the holidaymaker jumped from the seventh floor or fell by mistake.
A Malaga National Police spokesperson said: “I can confirm two men have died at a hotel in Marbella after one plunged from the seventh-floor and landed on top of another.
“We are investigating.”
A Foreign & Commonwealth Office spokesman said: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Spain and are in touch with the local police.”
