FG announces closure of Lagos’s 3rd mainland bridge for six months

The Federal Ministry of Works says it will close the ever busy 3rd mainland bridge in Lagos for a six-month period beginning July 24.

Revealing this to newsmen today July 6, the Federal Works Controller in Lagos, Olukayode Popoola, said consultations are ongoing for another phase of repair works to commence on the 11.8 km bridge. The repair works would begin at the bridge ‘s outward mainland section, according to Popoola. He said the ministry is already working with relevant agencies to ensure free traffic flow during the period.

The bridge has been through a number of repair works and was last shut down for a three-day investigative maintenance check in August 2018.
