A notorious 45-year-old car thief known as Baba Aliyu was arrested for stealing a Toyota Camry with registration number RSH 379 AP.
The suspect living in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger state’s Lambata area reportedly stole the car at FCT’s Wuse area.
Following a tip-off the Toyota Camry vehicle was intercepted by a police patrol team attached to the Gawu Babangida division.
Spokesperson for the command, Wasiu Abiodun said on Monday in a statement; “The driver refused to stop and the patrol team gave the vehicle a hot chase, as a result, the driver abandoned the vehicle at Lambata and took to his heels.
” Policemen chased the suspect and shot him on the leg before he could be arrested”
The suspect who was rushed to the hospital for treatment would be charged to court after investigation has been concluded.
