Customs officials in Tianjin Municipality in northern China confiscated 1,550 injections of human placental extract in 2019, the customs said Thursday.
Customs officers discovered the injections, totaling 3,100 milliliters, in postal packages and private belongings.
Human placental extract injections are biological products that, according to customs, require special quarantine certificates and approval upon entry or exit from the nation.
In latest years in China, human placental extract has become popular as it is claimed to increase immunity and enhance one’s appearance.
Many customers have discovered different unlawful methods to buy human injections of placental extract.
Those not quarantined, however, could carry pathogens, including hepatitis or HIV, which poses a danger to customers. (Xinhua/NAN)
