4 persons escape death as a fully loaded tanker overturns in Lagos-Ibadan expressway

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun Command on Saturday said four people suffered different degrees of injury when a tanker overturned on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at Ogere.

Clement Oladele, FRSC’s Ogun Sector Commander, informed Nigeria News Agency (NAN) in Ota, Ogun State about 6.50 a.m.

Mr Oladele stated that the tanker which was burnt beyond recognition was travelling from Lagos to Ibadan when it lost control owing to dangerous driving and excessive speed.

He said that in the accident that involved another vehicle, a Mitsubishi car with registration number DKA 653 ZP, four people suffered different degrees of injury.

“The victims who had parts of their bodies burnt, were rescued and taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention,’’ he said.

Mr Oladele reported that FRSC officers and other sister agency staff had already cleared the obstacle to ensure free flow of traffic on the highway.

However, the FRSC boss encouraged motorists to drive carefully and comply with all traffic rules and regulations prohibiting overtaking at diversion points and construction zones in order to prevent accidents. (NAN)
