On Thursday, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved N9.2 billion to build seven model schools and provide antiretroviral drugs to people living with HIV / AIDS throughout Nigeria.
The meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo began around 4:30 p.m. And finished at about 10 p.m.
At the end of the meeting, the Information Minister, Lai Mohammed, who briefed State House correspondents, said N4.6 billion had been approved for the construction of seven new model schools, one in each of the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The model schools, he said, will be built in the FCT as well as the states of Katsina, Nasarawa, Edo, Lagos, Bauchi and Imo.
Mr Mohammed said the council also approved the contract for the provision of antiretroviral drugs in the country for the treatment of HIV / AIDS patients. He said drug delivery contracts have been awarded in two phases.
He also said that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has been awarded four contracts amounting to over N3 billion.
