Based on the findings of

Malaria usually leads to
pyrexia and this leads to haemolysis leading to abortion at early pregnancy and
severe anaemia as from 2nd and 3rd trimester causing
preterm labour.

There is also invasion of
the placenta by the parasite preventing blood circulation around the placenta
causing placenta insufficiency leading to delivery of low birth weight babies
and infants born without immunity from susceptible mothers will develop
congenital malaria infection and this account for occasional still births and
neonatal death.
