How I Met My Patient

I
met Mr. O. I. one Monday morning when I was travelling to Asaba from Ogwashi-Uku
, I was opportune  to talk with Mr. O. I.
when a football topic was raised by some passengers that was waiting alongside
with one, so during the conversation I noticed Mr. O. I. coughing frequently,
he tried retraining himself from coughing and kept quiet. I kept on monitoring
him until I saw him when he went to spit of the phlegm that had accrued in his
mouth.

I
watched closely and noticed blood in his phlegm, so at that sight I was convinced
to meet and excused him to a secluded part at the park. I greeted and
introduced myself as a health student, we exchanged pleasantries and I
expressed my observations he admitted and told me that he has been experiencing
that for about two months and that he had gone to the hospital for check-up and
they told him he has tuberculosis.
So I
asked him if he has received any treatment for the disease and he replied that
they gave him some drugs but he does not take it always. So I told him that I
will like to visit his house to know how his condition is and also meet his
family. He accepted and gave me his address and phone number. I asked him the
day and time that is more convenient for him to be visited and he told me he
always at home on Sundays but he would appreciated being visited by 1 pm – 3 pm
because he normally attends his associated meetings, I thank him for his
cooperation and we bade ourselves farewell.
