Position Overview:
Operating on a 16 days on, 12 days off roster commuting from Cairns, you will work as part of a multicultural team on this exciting international project. Barrick Porgera is based in the Highlands of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and offers a unique and challenging work environment. At an elevation in excess of 2100 meters the Porgera Valley has a year round temperate climate with an annual rainfall of approximately 3.6 meters. The 2500 strong workforce is extremely diverse both culturally and in regards to education, skill and experience.
The opportunity exists for you to relocate to Cairns and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in a modern and dynamic city offering excellent educational facilities up to university level. Alternatively and subject to conditions, the company will subsidise on-travel airfares paid to commute to and from Cairns for each work roster.
PROJECT MANAGER – ENGINEERING
The position
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this role will be responsible for leading, supervising and managing the design and engineering projects group for both CAPEX and Maintenance based projects. Experience with management of projects such as liaison with key stakeholders for numerous projects to ensure scope, budgets and schedules are managed as expected for the Porgera Mine Site.
The person
You must have recognised tertiary qualifications within the Engineering field preferably in civil construction or minerals processing fields. Experience in cost management, planning & project management of capital projects. You will be primarily responsible for a small Design Engineering and Project execution team at the Porgera Mine Site and this role would suit candidates who are seeking to further their scope and experience within Project Management or someone who is seeking to wind down to smaller projects.
This challenging role requires you to engage with all people associated with the Barrick Porgera Operations and to understand, learn from and share cultural differences. It is essential that you have the capability and desire to transfer skills and knowledge to a national workforce.
