General Description:
The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of technical certificate programs and training and testing centers for Networking and IT Support Certificates through companies such as CompTIA, CISCO, Microsoft, and Google. Once program(s) are in place, will train 12 semester hours within the certification program(s).
Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. Leading the continued development and implementation of technical certificate programs and training and testing centers
2. Providing services in support of the creation and evaluation of Technology Certificates among the areas of Hardware and Software Support, Networking, Web Technologies, and Microcomputer Applications
3. Designing, implementing and helping with faculty mentoring for professional development
4. Work with VP of Administration in college wide information systems plans
5. Assistance in the implementation of department plans for the attainment of department goals
6. Community service in areas of expertise
7. Participation in on-going assessment and alignment of technology certificate courses/programs and services
Minimum Qualifications:
• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree. Must be a certified trainer for certification(s) in one or more fields listed in #2 above.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with:
• Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Systems Engineering, Information Science, or Educational Technology
• Two or more years teaching/training experience in the fields above
• Recent experience in the field
Salary and Benefits Offered at the College of the Marshall Islands:
Compensation
• US$25,137.00 to $33,513.00. Salary placement is depending upon relevant education, training and experience.
Benefits
• Two-year initial contract [note: this can be amended to a one-year “pilot” contingency contract, with an expectation to realign reporting lines and amend duties, as new needs are revealed, at the one-year point]
• Transportation from the point of hire to the Marshall Islands

Note Regarding Taxes.
RMI Income Tax. Personal income taxes are applicable to all persons employed in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the tax rates being 8% for the first US$10,400 in wages and 12% thereafter.
RMI Social Security Tax. Participation in the Marshall Islands Social Security (MISSA) is mandatory for Employees of the College. MISSA coverage provides for retirement benefits and basic health insurance benefits. A total of 10.5% (7% for retirement and 3.5% for health insurance) of gross wages is deducted on the first $5,000 in wages per calendar quarter.
USA Income Tax. If you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien, the rules for filing US income, estate, and gift tax returns and paying estimated tax are generally the same whether you are in the United States or abroad. Your worldwide income is subject to U.S. income tax, regardless of where you reside. As a US citizen working in the RMI you would qualify for the foreign earned income exclusion. The exclusion is indexed for inflation and is $92,900 in 2011.
It is recommended that applicants check with their financial or tax advisors for details of tax liability in their home country.
