Position Overview:
Operating on a 16 days in,
12 days off roster commuting from Cairns , you will work as part of a
multicultural team on this exciting international project. Barrick Porgera is
based in the Highlands of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and offers a unique
and challenging work environment. At an elevation in excess of 2100 meters the
Porgera Valley has a year round temperate climate with an annual rainfall of
approximately 3.6 meters. The 2500 strong workforce is extremely diverse both
culturally and in regards to education, skill and experience.
The opportunity exists for you to relocate to
Cairns and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle in a modern and dynamic city offering
excellent educational facilities up to university level. Alternatively and
subject to conditions, the company will subsidise on-travel airfares paid to
commute to and from Cairns for each work roster.
Underground Development Foreman
The position
Reporting to the Development Superintendent, the
role is responsible for Supervision of Underground Crew mining activities. You
will be required to provide leadership and management of the Underground crews
including the coordination of development to achieve daily targets.
The person
The preferred candidate must have experience
working within and Underground operation with significant development
experience. Previous experience with paste fill, mines rescue, emergency
preparedness and supervisory experience is also a requirement of this role.
Working within a developing country will be highly regarded.

all people associated with the Barrick Porgera Operations and to understand,
learn from and share cultural differences. It is essential that you have the
capability and desire to transfer skills and knowledge to a national workforce.
