This is a 2-year
Coterminous Term position. Staff with regular/open-ended appointment, if selected, will retain their current appointment type, with a re-entry guarantee from the releasing unit. Duties and
Accountabilities |
|
The Communications
Officer’s principal objectives will be to act as press officer for the Global Partnership and manage much of the social media. Specifically, the CO will:
Develop and implement a strong social media
platform and associated products/content for the Global Partnership that is interesting, relevant and reflective of the new branding and dynamic style.
Manage the Global Partnership’s blog.
Increase substantially the media coverage
of the Global Partnership and build a strong standing with print, broadcast and electronic media outlets.
Assist in communications efforts around
various events planned for the coming two years, including knowledge fairs, UNGA side events, Board Meetings, Partnership Meetings, conferences hosted by the Global Partnership etc.
Support the SCO in efforts to develop a
global political and grass-roots campaign on the centrality of education to development. This will be done with CSOs as well as donors, developing country partners, private sector and others. The whole Partnership will need to be galvanized behind this effort.
Write communications materials on an
ongoing basis.
Support the other teams of the Secretariat
in their internal and external communications requirements. |

Selection Criteria
|
|
Masters Degree in Communications, Political
Science , International Relations , Public Affairs, Marketing, Journalism, or other related field plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in communications, public relations or the media.
Creative, pro-active, and energetic.
Excellent oral and written communications
skills, particularly the ability to synthesize complex messages and tailor them into simple, clear and non-academic language for different audiences
Proven track record in delivering results
Talent for working within a creative and
dynamic team within a non-hierarchical and fluid structure
Previous work experience with an
international civil society organization or multilateral / donor organization is a plus
Experience in media relations
Experience with social media as a
communications tool and web applications
Experience in the production of audiovisual
media products and interactive media releases
Ability to work under tight deadlines and
