Education Advisor for ‘Support to Ivorian Refugees and Affected Host Communities’ (SIRAHC) Project Job Vacancy in Liberia

Background
IBIS works for a just world, in which all people have equal access to education, influence and resources and are able to influence the decisions that affect their lives. IBIS’ work is based on a right-based approach and takes its departure from constructive, capacity building partnerships with local Government, NGOs and Civil Society Organisations. IBIS has implemented education projects in the marginalised South-East of Liberia
since 2005.

Support to Ivorian Refugees and Affected Host Communities This project is part of an on-going Reintegration & Recovery Programme and will be implemented in refugee affected communities and refugee camps in Grand Gedeh and River Gee Counties in partnership with Welthungerhilfe (WASH, infrastructure, and agriculture) and medica mondiale (SGBV). IBIS’ focus herein is basic education , life skills, and skills training for young people from host communities and refugee population.

Key responsibilities
• Daily planning, activity implementation and monitoring of the project, including responsibility for human and financial resources
• Ensure that the project is effectively integrated within IBIS’ Education for Change (EfC) Thematic Programme and is closely linked to the Reintegration & Recovery Programme (RRP III), particularly in relation to strategic decision making, shared staffing and monitoring processes
• Manage the project budget and related financial procedures, submit quarterly narrative and financial donor and internal reports & transfer requests
• Be lead in maintaining good working relationships with the SIRAHC partners and Government authorities and participate in joint agency assessments, task-force teams, workshops, etc.

Essential qualifications and experience
• Relevant degree
• At least three years field experience working for an INGO(s)
• Proven track record in project management from A-Z
• Substantial management experience
• Experience from emergency situation/refugee context
• Relevant experience working with youth and/or protection
• Advanced facilitation and training skills, as well as conflict resolution skills

Personal competences
• Extrovert, self-driven, able to withstand adversity
• Natural authority and motivating leadership style as well as a team player
• Excellent communication skills and intercultural awareness
• Highly result-oriented as well as loyal to organisational values

Contract period: March 2012 – January 2014
