Job Title: MCH Supervisor
Band: 7
Reports to: Emergency Health Coordinator
Supervises: None
Location: Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County (travels in the county)
Working hours: Monday to Fri 08.00am – 5.00pm (to a maximum of 48hrs a week)
JOB DESCRIPTION:

Overall mission:
Supports and supervises the implementation of Maternal and Child Health care (MCH) and PMTCT services at Merlin’s supported MoHSW primary health care facilities and refugee camps at the County level.
Responsibilities and duties:
Responsibility 1: Supervises MCH implementation activities at Merlin supported MoHSW facilities in collaboration with the CHT
•Direct and monitor the implementation of MCH, RH, PMTCT and SGBV related project activities;

• Ensure the provision of PMTCT services are provided at the clinics and motor staff on PMTCT MoHSW Protocol;
• Work with the CHT to monitor and supervise MCH activities at Merlin/MoHSW supported clinics in Montserrado county;
• Participate both in static and outreach EPI activities in coordination with the EPI supervisor;
• Together with the Clinical supervisor and the CHT, conduct supervisory visits and follow up on the implementation of IMCI in Merlin/MoHSW supported health facilities in Montserrado;
• Participate in regular and ad hoc meetings representing Merlin at county and national level;
• Attend regular meetings with vaccinators and share results with Health Coordinator.
Responsibility 2: Reporting
•To collect, analyse and compile MCH & PMTCT data from the health facilities and prepare monthly activity reports in collaboration with the facility staff;
Responsibility 3: Capacity building of MoHSW staff
•In all activities, work to include and support the CHT and the facility staff and share skills;
Others:
•Perform other duties and tasks as required by the line manager or the technical manager

Essential Requirements:
• Qualified Certified Midwife or Nurse Midwife with at least three years practical experience;

• Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English;
• Good interpersonal capacities, organisation skills and experience in team work/team building;
• Previous field experience with INGOs in Liberia.
Desirable Requirements:
• BSc in Nursing and or midwifery;
• Experience in conducting and analysing basic surveys and conducting needs assessment;
• Completion of Emergency Obstetrics Lifesaving Skills training;
• Experience in core infection control measures , universal precaution;
• Experience implementing YFS, PMTCT, ASRH activities HIV/ AIDS VCT, BCC, RH, GBV activities.
As MERLIN is working in a constantly changing humanitarian aid environment, reasonable specific work duties may be requested that may not fit into the above job description, but which will help promote over all programmes goals and aims. Similarly while work on weekends will not normally be required, requests to do so should be regarded as falling within the 48hr working week stipulated within MERLIN’s standard working contract, of which this job description forms a part.
